SESSION DETAILS & STYLING

What to expect

We are often photographing back-to-back sessions during the holiday season. Please arrive a few minutes early to use the restroom, check everyone’s hair, apply face location and chapped stick to dry skin and lips (yes, really!), and take a breath! Your session is only 10 minutes and will start and end promptly so we can stay on schedule! We will not be able to accommodate late arrivals.

  • It is ok to enter the studio while we are shooting another family.

  • When you arrive, please wipe all children’s faces.

  • Make sure you have removed old nail polish and faux tattoos.

New Studio Address

WE MOVED! Our new address is:

7120 E Hampden Avenue, Denver, CO 80224

Check your email for specific directions.

I will also text directions a couple days before.

Working with your children

We work hard to build a quick rapport with kids and need their attention focused on us. So please refrain from directing your child or requesting they smile more than once. Feel free to quietly point out a smile that isn’t natural, otherwise, allow us to work towards natural reactions. We will most certainly ask for your help as we need it! Sessions are only 10 minutes. If your child is unable to participate in this timeframe, unfortunately we will need to move on to the next family. So it is very important YOU arrive relaxed and go with your child’s flow. It is not possible to force children to smile. Please allow me to do my tricks in the timeframe we have alloted.

Let’s start with styling: dress mom first

Choose an outfit you love, feel good in, can move freely, and compliments your figure. Base all other outfits on your choice.

From a flowing dress to a cable knit sweater paired with white jeans, it’s important you feel good.

Begin with a neutral palette such as creamy-wintery white & soft greys.

Starting with a neutral base allows faces to pop rather than loud colors. Choose 80% neutral for your color choices, then add in 20% pattern or a soft color.

Keep young children unfussy.

A dressy look is great for the holiday season. But young children should still be comfortable. Choose elegant, soft knits for young children.

Older kids might enjoy dressing up…

Especially if you booked a glitter session. But make sure you keep them dressed in something they would normally want to wear. If they hate what they’re in, you will have an uphill battle.
