Are Newborn Portraits Worth It?
Yes. And so is eating the cake. And sleeping in on the weekends. We’re all in on the little indulgences.
Obviously to us, documenting certain milestones is a no-brainer. But you might be thinking “I can just take photos myself.” or “Am I really going to be up to this right after giving birth?”
Those questions are FAIR and honestly, we get it. So here’s why we think photographing your new baby within the first week is so important.
Within a few weeks, your baby will not look or behave like a newborn any longer. This stage is the quickest to pass.
Your memory of the first week will be a little skewed from lack of sleep and healing from birth.
You will most certainly take thousands of photos with your phone. But photographing a newborn is unique. Knowing how to wrap a baby, how to support the baby even in the simplest “poses”, how to get the light just right to show that dewy newborn glow, the time of day…these are skills a professional newborn photographer has spent years honing.
We often hear mom complain, “I’m never in any photos taken by the family!” Photographing the entire family is a priority for us.
And finally, we want mom to feel beautiful and relax knowing we have it covered. While you’re healing, our job is to take this important task off your plate. This is a moment to step away from the laundry and dishes, and just rest in our studio while we photograph your sweet babe. Then step into our homey and natural light studio to snuggle up and capture this beautiful new relationship.
