My Favorite Locations for Family Photos in Denver, Colorado

We were recently cited in an article by Redfin listing out some of the best places to visit in Colorado. While the majority of our work is in our natural light Denver portrait studio, we love getting outside for summer and fall family portraits. With over 26 years of experience shooting in Colorado, I’ve found a handful of favorite spots you might want to check out!

These three locations always top the list though. They offer a variety of scenic backdrops, from mountain views to serene lakes. Each location has its unique features and charm that can add character and beauty to your family portraits.

Chatfield State Park

If you love the water like I do, schedule a session where we actually take a dip in the lake. The sunset views, clear sky and water are like no other location. But, we must go in if you book here! That’s non-negotiable!

Shhh…this one is secret

Sorry, but some locations are too precious. I happened upon this view while on a long run south of Denver. It’s a bit of a hike to get there, but well worth the effort. The view speaks for itself!

Hildebrand Ranch

Hildebrand Ranch in Littleton is a famous photographer’s favorite. It boasts an abundance of natural locations to roam from large canopy trees and lined paths to the open fields set before the foothills. The sunset here is one of a kind.
