When should I schedule my newborn session?
Book your session about 2 to 3 months before your due date. Simply pick a date one week after you’re due. The ideal age for a newborn session is 7-10 days. Once baby arrives, you can adjust the scheduled session as necessary.
Why so early after birth?
While my style is organic, a sleepy baby creates an easier session than one who is wakeful. While an older baby might eat and sleep on repeat, your baby will be handled more during the session, resulting in more opportunities to awaken. Also, babies just a few days old still love to be swaddled, while they begin to push out more as they grow.
Do you offer in-home sessions?
For a variety of reasons, I photograph all of our sessions in the studio.
Clients hire me to achieve the sought after look shown in my portfolio. To ensure consistency in quality, my studio’s light is perfect for creating the style of images you see in our work.
Our studio is staged like a home with a living room for your comfort, coffee, water, snacks and a TV. Relax knowing you won’t need to clean your house for the session.
While it might seem difficult to leave the home, my clients often express gratitude for not having to clean up the house prior to a photographer’s arrival!
How long is a newborn session?
My newborn sessions are approximately 2 hours, but I reserve the morning just in case your bundle of joy needs a little extra attention. To support a calm environment for all, I never rush newborn photos.
What if my baby is fussy?
Trust me, your baby would not be the first to have a rough morning during our session together. It happens!
Be sure to book when baby is 7 to 10 days old. After this point , babies start to fuss more. We will first ensure baby is well fed. Pro tip: their hands go limp when they are full! Then we allow baby a little time and space to work through it. Often I can photograph you in a beautiful setting as you soothe your sweet babe to sleep.
This is why hiring a professional is so important. With over 20 years experience and three children of my own, nothing phases me when it comes to capturing beautiful photos of your new baby.

Because I want your baby to be the main focus of all the images, I love all things neutral. Neutral colors allow your baby’s new dewey skin and tiny features to shine through, as well as create timeless images.
I like to create a blend of beautiful baby portraits with family portraits that lean towards a lifestyle feel. We set baby in comfortable, natural poses for a series of images that capture all the details. Then we photograph family and sibling portraits in our natural light studio, focusing on both intimate moments and posed portraits.
